Honda has officially unveiled the 2016 Civic Type R at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. But now, the Japanese car manufacturer is offering to us new details and pictures with their hot hatch.
Described as the most extreme and high-performance Type R ever built, the model will go on sale across Europe from this July and it will be offered in two trim levels. More than that, customers will be able to choose from five different body colors: Championship White, Crystal Black, Polished Metal, Brilliant Sporty Blue and Milano Red.
2016 Honda Civic Type R – Engine
Under the hood of the 2016 Honda Civic Type R is a 2.0 liter i-VTEC engine that can offer 310 horsepower and 400 Nm between 2.500 and 4.000 rpm. As you already know, the engine comes with the Variable Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) and Dual-Variable Timing Control (VTC) systems.
The unit is matted to a six speed manual transmission which enables the Japanese hot hatch to run from stand still to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, while the top speed is clocked at 270 km/h.
In addition, the 2016 Honda Civic Type R has a new Four-wheel Adaptive Damper System, as well as an Advanced Dual Axis Strut Front Suspension, systems that enhances high speed stability and on-the-limit cornering.
