The third stage includes a drive to the Casa Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena
Maranello, 16 May 2017 – From 18 to 21 May a total of 114 Ferraris will tread the legendary roads of the Mille Miglia, one of the world’s most difficult and beautiful car races. Sixteen Maranello cars will start in the economy run, which recalls the historic Italian car marathon and only admits cars approved for the race up to 1957. However, any Prancing Horse customer can take part in this great event thanks to the Tribute to Mille Miglia, which also admits Ferraris built after 1957, when the last competitive Mille Miglia was held.
Ferrari Tribute from Desenzano. The cars in the race will start by parading down Viale Venezia in Brescia on 18 May at 2:30 pm, before taking the traditional route to Rome and then returning on some of the most beautiful roads in Italy. The first stage will pass through Lombardy and the Veneto with a unique panoramic drive along the shore of Lake Garda between the towns of Desenzano del Garda and Sirmione. The Ferrari Tribute will set off from Desenzano at 1:45 pm, a few minutes ahead of the historic cars. Entrants come from over 20 countries with models spanning a period of 52 years. The oldest car is a 275 GTS of 1965, but participants also include also a LaFerrari Aperta, Maranello’s icon of the 70th anniversary of Ferrari history.
First stage. The cars will bid farewell to the shores of Garda and head to Monzambano and Valeggio sul Mincio, home to the “Nodo d’Amore”, a special tortellino pasta that is only made in this romantic resort poised between the provinces of Mantua and Verona. The stage will end with an evening parade in the city of Padua in Prato della Valle, Europe’s largest square after Moscow’s Red Square.
Drive to MEF. The second day will leave Ferrara, which with its spectacular Castello degli Estensi is the big addition to this year’s event, and then head to San Marino, Gubbio, and Terni before arriving in Rome at dusk shortly after 8 pm. The next day the cars will start their journey back from the capital to Brescia. The third day will be the most exciting for participants in the Ferrari Tribute. After following the race route through the now famous towns of Radicofani, Monteriggioni and Montecatini Terme, nearly 100 Ferraris of the Tribute will go to the Enzo Ferrari Museum (MEF) in Modena for a parade that will also be a tribute to one of the company’s historic locations in this special celebratory 70th anniversary year.
Parade. On the final day all the cars will depart from Parma on the road to Brescia where after 1600 kilometres, exactly 1000 miles, the event will conclude among the crowds lining the route. Each day the cars of the Ferrari Tribute to 1000 Miglia will precede the historic ones by a few minutes, thus offering an unforgettable spectacle for the tens of thousands of fans who, as always, will throng the route to hear the sound of powerful and glorious engines and to admire some of the cars that best represent the history of the automobile.
