In this post, we are going to introduce the best car dashboards that will be available in 2014. Most of the cars have already hit the market and the dashboards are really looking great, one would say from 21st century. Big LCD touch screens area slowly replacing old mechanical speedometers. On the other hand side, who is today able to repair the dashboard in a garage by using some common tool? You already need some IT skills, electronics knowledge and a lot of other technical skills to fully understand the new dashboards.
Here is the top-list of the 10 best:
10. Range Rover
In the Range Rover, every detail is designed to preserve the elegant, clean lines of the cabin. State-of-the-art, intuitive functionality is delivered by a simplified, accessible layout of control systems. There is excellent interior stowage space with more generous door bins, a large twin glove box as well as a large armrest box with optional cooling feature. There is also the latest climate control system.
9. Volvo V40
The V40 features an interactive dashboard with three driving set-ups – elegance, eco and performance – to suit your driving mood. LEDs placed across the interior gently light your cabin at night and add a real sense of occasion to your journey. You can also adjust the LEDs’ brightness as well as choose from seven different theatre light modes to create your desired ambience.
8. Jaguar F-Type
Every F-TYPE model comes standard with a small diameter, three-spoke leather covered steering wheel. Multi-function controls for the audio system and cruise control are on the front of the spokes, and paddle shifters for the transmission are on the back. For the ultimate high performance feel, a flat-bottomed racing style steering wheel is included as part of the Performance Pack on the S and V8 S.
7. Mercedes-Benz S
The warm, white interior lighting and ambient lighting (with a choice of seven colour moods) of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class exude a feeling of pure comfort. The lighting units are positioned stylishly and discreetly throughout the interior – and thoroughly illuminate typically dark areas such as door handle recesses and the front passenger footwell. Additionally, the innovative display unit in the driver’s area, also appropriately lit, which contains the instrument cluster and head unit, consists of two large 31.2 centimetre TFT displays.
6. Opel Adam
Production of Opel Adam began at the Eisenach plant in Germany in January 2013. The three-door shell hides a smart interior with a range of technologies that, until recently, were only available on larger and pricier cars. The instrument cluster, along with much of the switchgear,is surrounded by neat chrome rings. Options include a seven-inch touch screen that can interface with Apple iPhone and Android smartphones, a self-parking system, a blind-spot warning system, and a heated steering wheel.
5. Citroën DS5
Citroën DS5’s interior feels limited not by the creativity of its designer, but by the budget of a manufacturer grimly eyeing the bottom line. However in the top-spec model the dashboard is a convincing tribute to what Citroën is attempting to achieve with the DS range.
4. Lexus IS
The low-set driver’s sport seat, pedals, steering wheel and even the windshield wipers are positioned and angled for a more dynamic driving experience without sacrificing comfort or visibility.
3. Peugeot 3008
On higher spec levels of Peugeot 3008, you’ll find padded surfaces on the door waist rails and fascia top, and plentiful chrome or aluminium-look detailing around instruments, vents, switches and handles. The centre console is high, cordoning off the driver in what Peugeot likens to an aircraft cockpit.
2. Fisker Karma
The Fisker Karma’s uniquely refined interior wood trim is 100 % sustainably sourced from fallen, sunken and rescued wood to ensure that no live growth is ever used. Fallen wood comes from naturally fallen trees in western United States. Rescued wood is recovered from non-living trees as a result of Californian wildfires. Sunken wood was resting at the bottom of lake Michigan over 30 years.
1. Citroën C4 Picasso
The interior design of the new Citroën C4 Picasso is also easy on the eye, certainly in the top-spec model we’ve tested. A large 12in HD screen sits at the top of the dashboard (in all models above base spec) that can be configured to show everything from a traditional instrument binnacle to a pretty picture you’ve taken. All models get a 7in touchscreen in the centre console that takes the role of traditional instruments like heating controls, the infotainment and the navigation.
bonus – Pagani Huayra
And the bonus goes to Pagani Huayra. Some people consider it as the ugliest interior ever, we think it is very “special”. We intentionally did not include it into our list, but it is definitely worth checking.Pagani Huayra interior
