Twelve South, the shop that is dedicated to design accessories for Apple’s products only, has launched another accessory, GhostStand, for MacBook. The new accessory is a sleek stand made of clear polycarbonate material that serves as a perfect companion for the laptop. This stand lifts the notebook by a level of 6 inches from the ground and provides an efficient option to be used as a desktop with an external mouse and keyboard.
The GhostStand is provided in a classy packing in the form of a gift box, containing a two clear polycarbonate pieces that are connected to form an X-shaped stand. This product needs to be assembled only once, where both the pieces are provided with tight tolerance levels for a perfect grip. For the stand to take its shape, its parts need to be slid into each other and align them to make a firm grip.
After sliding one piece into the other, the top surface of the GhostStand takes the form of an angled surface. The stand is made of thin aluminum strips that are lined up with silicone and both are machined together to take their place. These types of strips are provided on both the top and the bottom side of the GhostStand to prevent them from sliding over any hard surface.
The Story Behind its Name
The name, GhostStand, for this stand came as an inspiration from the Ghost Chair designed by Phillipe Starck, which was made of polycarbonate material, which almost disappeared from vision. In a similar manner, the new stand also tends to provide a disappearing view.
Application of the Stand
The GhostStand is used to lift the MacBook by a height of about 6 inches to make its view more comfortable. It can be employed for using the notebook as a desktop by attaching a separate keyboard, mouse or even an external display to be used comfortably and makes the laptop look like floating in air.
