Ford Focus RS spied on the Nurburgring

The guys from CarPix have managed to see around the Nurburging the super-hot version of the Ford Focus which will carry on the RS moniker. With this model, Ford will have all the weapons to defeat the Volkswagen Golf R or the Honda Civic Type R.

Bypassing the trick-ST logos, the silver-colored RS prototype wears the body of the pre-facelift Focus, with its front-end entirely covered in camouflage, while at the back we have spotted a unique exhaust layout with two wide-set outlets.

According to our colleagues from Carscoops, the upcoming Ford Focus RS will feature the new direct-injection 2.3 liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine used in the latest Mustang. This engine is rated at over 305 horsepower and 406 Nm peak of torque.

There has been talk about Ford employing all-wheel drive, but chances are that the new RS will stick with a front-wheel-drive layout using a different front suspension setup and a torque-biasing differential to keep the car’s nose in check.
