Opel has revealed that the new 2016 Astra model will be available with the brand new IntelliLux LED Matrix headlights. Of course, we are talking about a system that will be found on the option list, but Opel will become the first mass manufacturer with accessible models to offer this feature.
According to Opel, the new IntelliLux LED Matrix headlights will work with the Opel Eye front camera and will feature eight individual LED segments. Each one can automatically adjusts the length and distribution of the light beam according to the traffic situation.
“We are democratizing technology by making innovations affordable and bringing them to high volume vehicles. Our new LED matrix light, IntelliLux, is a perfect example. Our integration of the LED technology provides outstanding night time performance enhancing safety for the driver and those around them”, said Charlie Klein, Opel Vice President of Vehicle Engineering.
All you have to do is put the lights on Auto and when you’ll leave the urban area the car will be able to adjust the high-beams. Opel has also conducted a study and it have found out that a driver which is traveling with 80 km/h will be able to detect objects at the side of the road with 30 – 40 meters sooner thanks to the IntelliLux LED Matrix headlights. As a result, the driver will have 1.5 seconds more to avoid the obstacle or to react.
