Volkswagen has officially unveiled the Tristar Concept at the 2014 IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover. The new German prototype was developed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Syncro concept and it is based on the Transporter.
“The Tristar shows an unprecedented combination of all the good features of the T model series. It demonstrates its potential and proves it is still the ultimate benchmark:, said Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Chairman Dr. Eckhard Scholz.
The exterior of the Tristar Concept is rugged and has a few accessories borrowed from an off-roader. We are talking about the plastic body cladding, the 30 mm increased ride height and 17 inch wheels with off-road tires. In addition, the Tristar Concept has a revised front fascia with new LED headlights. Last, but not the least is a winch.
Inside the cabin, the 2014 Volkswagen Tristar Concept has premium leather seats, metallic trim and an espresso machine.
Under the hood, the German concept comes with a 2.0 liter TDI engine which can deliver 200 HP and 450 Nm peak of torque. The engine resources are sent to the ground via a seven speed DSG transmission and a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. As a result, the concept can rung from not to 100 km/h in 10 seconds and can hit a top speed of 185 km/h.
