Audi has unveiled this weekend the brand-new 2014 R8 LMX model. The new German supercar is described as the world’s first production vehicle with laser high beams. The 2014 Audi R8 LMX comes with laser headlights which features four high power laser diodes. These are emitting white light at a color temperature of 5,500 Kelvin.
According to the German officials, the lights are activated at 60 km/h and enhance visibility and safety. Furthermore, the 2014 Audi R8 LMX comes with a camera-based sensor system which can detect other cars and which are able to adjust the light patters.
On the outside, the 2014 Audi R8 LMX features Ara Blue paint, carbon fiber flics and a unique rear wing. Furthermore, we see gloss black tailpipes, carbon fiber ceramic discs and special 19 inch alloy rims.
Inside the cockpit, the 2014 Audi R8 LMX features Fine Nappa leather seats with Sepang Blue contrast stitching. On the option list, customers will also see Alcantara headliner, matte carbon fiber trim and illuminated door sill plates.
Under the hood of the 2014 Audi R8 LMX is the 5.2 liter V10 engine rated at 570 horsepower and 540 Nm peak of torque. The motor resources are put to the ground via a seven speed S tronic transmission and thanks to the quattro all-wheel-drive system. Under these conditions, the 2014 Audi R8 LMX can sprint from stand still to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and the top speed is clocked at 320 km/h.
The 2014 Audi R8 LMX is available for order in Germany at a price tag of 210,000 Euros. According to Audi, the special R8 LMX edition will be manufactured only in 99 units and the first deliveries are scheduled for this summer.
